Jennifer Love Hewitt discloses her close relationship with her mother for the first time. In her new book, ‘Patricia Mae’ she describes that her mother always makes everyone feel special around her.
The Holiday Junkie at Zibby’s Bookshop in Los Angeles during a celebration for the book and movie, Hewitt said, “We’d walk into a restaurant and people couldn’t care less about me; that was my mother.” She was too friendly to everyone, therefore nobody was a stranger to her.
Moreover, Hewitt explained an example of how her mother made even the simplest days special.
Patricia Mae died of cancer complications on June 12, 2012, at 67. The media disclosed this news before she did. During her mother’s death, she was attending the 52nd Monte Carlo TV Festival in Monaco. That was a long flight of about 10-and-a-half-hour to come back.
Mother Memories
Hewitt says after 12 years of her mother, she actually feels ready to disclose the memories of her mother. She told The Hollywood Reporter that she usually says nothing about her mother as she had no words. This felt like the right time to talk about her and say, “This is what she left behind.”
Shewitt described the story about a woman facing her first Christmas without her mother, who finds love with a man who harbors his own grief unknowingly. I want to make this movie for those who were sad and who felt happy.
One final memory Hewitt shared of her mother was that every time she left the house for a shoot, her mother would ask to hold hands. I miss it the most and wish I could have her hands now.
